What "Ethical AI Design" Really Means: Inside Our Beta Tools

AI tools promise to save you time, and some of them do. What they don't tell you is what that time savings costs somewhere else: your data, the planet, or the person on the other end of a supply chain you'll never see.

We think you deserve to know all three. So as we open access to our new Beta tools this week, here's how we approached design from an ethics-first point of view…

We’re focused on protecting people and the planet. Our zone of impact is:

→ data transparency and agency

→ environmental preservation

→ protecting people in the supply chain

Here's what we know about the energy and water consumption of the tools opening up this week.

With a single call design, there are no hidden planning, tool-calling, self-check, or retry loops like there are with agent frameworks that re-send full context and tool definitions on every loop iteration (so the more complex the task, the more tokens balloon).

Y’all, AI agents can use up to 136x more energy per task than the tools we’re releasing next week.😱 (KAIST, 2026)

Plus, getting a DIY agent working reliably takes weeks of failed test runs before it produces anything usable and even then, you’re arguing with it about your tone of voice. My team of experts training AI on the most efficient and proven growth framework in the industry with strict performance standards removes innumerable layers of waste from the process.

DATA DESIGN

  • Your data won’t train your competitors.

  • You’ll have full data transparency (for some reason this is not common practice)

ENVIRONMENTAL DESIGN

Based on average usage so far – and multiplied by per-query ranges from peer-reviewed studies in 2026.

Per business, week:

  • Roughly 1–2 full smartphone charges for an entire week of work.

  • Under one teaspoon of water per week.

Per business, annually:

  • Boiling a kettle a few times over 12 months, and less water than a single glass, for an entire year of strategy work.

Per 500 brands, weekly:

  • Comparable to running a refrigerator for 3 days.

  • 1 liter of water per week

(***Methodology: Based on average usage so far (30–50 messages per client per week across our tools) and multiplied by Microsoft's peer-reviewed, measured per-query range (Oviedo et al., Joule, 2026): 0.16–0.6 Wh of electricity and ≤0.067 mL of water per query.)

PROTECTING PEOPLE BEHIND THE SUPPLY CHAIN

For the past year, we’ve been donating 1% of all of our workshop sales to Techworker Community Africa and are increasing that this month to include 1% of all of our sales, period.

The Beta tools we’re building allow you to use AI efficiencies through a more environmentally (and human) friendly option than trying to DIY it in ChatGPT.

This is about being honest, more than perfect, and building tools that help our clients succeed while modeling the possibilities of impact-driven business.

We've opened Beta access.
